Een niet erg onafhankelijke biografie, gezien het feit dat Jackie als producer, associate producer en schrijver (!) op de titelrol vermeld staat. Maar subjectief of niet, leuk is 'ie wel. De Jackie fan (en welke lezer van deze rubriek is dat niet?) wordt in JC-My Story overspoeld met details en trivia, opnames achter de schermen (waaronder op de set van Who Am I in Afrika en An Alan Smithee Film in de USA) en beelden uit Jackie's privéleven. We zien Jackie in training met Ken Lo, we zien Jackie bij een ontelbare aantal publieke verschijningen, we horen Jackie commentaar geven op zijn carrière en zijn leven. Enzovoort, enzovoort. Echt iets voor de fans dus. Anderen zullen zich waarschijnlijk wel kunnen amuseren met het oer-Hongkongse (oftewel overenthousiaste en quasi-leuke) commentaar. Als ze de ondertiteling kunnen volgen dan. Tom Mes English [ ! ] This biographical documentary was originally shot for HK television, but has now been released on video. And though it may not be very objective (Jackie's name appears in the credits as producer, associate producer, and even writer), it sure is a lot of fun. Jackie fans will find lots of unknown details and trivia, there's a mass of behind the scenes footage (including footage from the Who Am I-shoot in Africa and from An Alan Smithee Film in the US), scenes from Jackie's private life, footage of Jackie working out with Ken Lo, an incredible number of public appearances, and so on, and so on. Jackie comes across the way we know him: a hard-working, happy go lucky kind of guy, but he's not afraid to show sides of himself that are less glamorous. All in all, this one's for fans only. Anyone else may enjoy the rampantly ridiculous high-speed narration. If they can follow the subtitles, that is. Tom Mes
