[ Joya - Will Oldham ]
Will keeps being amazing. Everytime he turns out new work he comes at the listener in a different guise. Always sad though, always scared for something unknown, always inbetween life and death, always halfway between heaven and hell. It's never easy to understand what Will is singing about, other than it is always utterly utterly beautiful. After six releases, Will Oldham can be seen as the best music can offer us. [ j v ]

[ Appendix Out - The rye bears a poison ]
The influence of the Chicago music 'scene' is strechting out. Appendix Out lives in Schotland, but by just listening to him you wouldn't notice. He is still a lesser god then Will Oldham, but one on the rise, even Will noticed that and released his early singles on his own recordlabel Palace. Wanna cry? Take your Appendix Out. [ j v ]

[ Sauna Sessions - Friend ]
And I thought drum'n'bass could only be made in the UK. How wrong I was, from a Sauna in Sweden, this Friend is churning out excellent jazzy stuff with a hint of electro and a lot humour. [ j v ]

[ Vinyl 2000 / Electrecord - Various ]
Excellent vinyl only compilation, presenting German's finest electro from various labels. I've never heard of any of them, but after hearing the very Krafwerky 'Elastisch' of Klys-tron and the two metrononic cyberfunk stompers by Artificial Material I want to hear more and so you will also. [ j v ]
